Derya Akay is a Vancouver-based artist working in sculpture, installation, and performance. He holds a BFA from Emily Carr University of Art & Design (2010) and was awarded the 2016 Portfolio Prize Emerging Artist Award in Vancouver.

Akay has had several solo exhibitions, including those at Unit 17, grunt gallery, and Centre A in Vancouver; Kunstverein, Toronto; and Del Vaz Projects, Los Angeles. His work was in recent group exhibitions at the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, Vancouver Art Gallery and Lulu in Mexico City. Akay currently has a commissioned installation, Meydan, at The Polygon.
